Poisoning by chloroform is of very rare occurrence, especially when it is drunk. The report-, of the following case has been taken from my friend. Baboo Girish Ghunder Chatterjee, SubAssistant Surgeon in charge of the Maharajah of Yizianagram's Dispensary at Bheloopore, in the suburbs of Benares. A jemadar, by name Jngmohone, aged 40, in the service of the Maharajah of Nattore, took about an ounce of chloroform on the morning of the 2Gth March last, at about 4 a.m., to poison himself. No notice was taken of him till late in the morning, and it was at 8 a.m. (four hours after he had swallowed the poison) that my friend was sent for.
